Beeb ‘Liar’ BBC’s chief fact-checker accused of lying
One for them likes of Capital Man, Pickle and joyo - you love to be told what to think by your government controlled media outlets.

What do you make of this then?

Unbelievable hypocrisy for that fact checker or , it’s ok to lie if you are on the side of truth. I can already guess what you will choose.

BEEB ‘LIAR’ BBC’s chief fact-checker Marianna Spring accused of lying on CV by falsely claiming to have worked with Beeb colleague
Holly Christodoulou
Published: 9:57, 8 Sep 2023

THE BBC's chief fact-checker is at the centre of claims she lied about her experience on her CV.

Marianna Spring, who works as the broadcaster's disinformation correspondent, reportedly gave misleading information to secure work.

She claimed she worked alongside BBC correspondent Sarah Rainsford covering the "perception" of Russia during the 2018 World Cup, The New European reports.

Marianna allegedly wrote on her CV: "June 2018: Reported on International News during the World Cup, specifically the perception of Russia, with BBC correspondent Sarah Rainsford."

The journalist made the apparent claim five years ago while trying to get work as a freelancer in Moscow for US-based news site Coda Story.

According to the publication, the website's editor-in-chief Natalia Antelava, who previously worked for the BBC, criticised Marianna after checking out the supposed connection.

Marianna then reportedly sent an email apologising for her "awful misjudgment" and said she was led by her "desperation" for the job.

She also said she was a "brilliant journalist" but admitted she was "naive and stupid", it is reported.

But Natalia responded: "Telling me you are a brilliant reporter who exercises integrity and honesty when you have literally demonstrated the opposite was a terrible idea."

Marianna became the BBC's disinformation and social media correspondent in August last year.

She had worked for Panorama and has her own BBC podcast called Marianna In Conspiracyland.

The journalist is also part of the BBC verify team, which undertakes fact-checking to avoid misinformation.

The BBC did not wish to comment when approached by The Sun Online.

Applying critical thinking is difficult.

It is particularly difficult when someone is saying something that fits your thinking as a decent hard working caring human being which the vast majority of us are.

We have to keep trying though.

I remember her going through a presentation showing what BBC Verify was there for.

The stand out for me was a flow chart which showed various sources they would check, investigate, challenge etc for disinformation. There was a circle for far right (whatever far right is in the BBCs eyes as ordinary people have been labelled far right by them).

But there was no mention of a far left view being challenged.

Which I can only deduce that the BBC ARE the far left.

If she's lied to get her job then she should be sacked as anyone might be in other employment. That doesn't however undermine the entire work of the department or indeed the institutuion in which she is currently employed. If the majority of her colleagues have done the same, then fair enough but none of us have that information, I venture.

Now, I would vote for Vincent Price as Prime-Minister.

(This statement has not been fact checked as I have on idea of his political allegiances, if any).

Speaking of the BBC and their agenda….

Story today about the ‘unprecedented’ weather at the moment featured this:

“Heatwaves have become more frequent, more intense, and last longer because of human-induced climate change.”

Did they fact check their own work?

I long ago reached the conclusion that the BBC as a nationalised industry, will always have political agendas. Like the failing NHS you should feel grateful for their services even though you pay for it you are no longer a customer but someone that has to wait in the queue no matter how sick you are..

Nationalised industries are motivated by politically woke issues these days, they will employ people by gender and race balancing rather than simply employing the best qualified for the job. It is noticeable how many news items are majored on about the world headed for its globally warmed disasters.

Willtell, which nationalised industries are you referencing regarding their being “motivated by politically woke issues”?

Re: Beeb ‘Liar’ BBC’s chief fact-checker accused of lying
The other side of the coin is that a commercial media organization may well lean the news they report on - and the language used to report it - in favour of their sponsor(s).

You only have to look at the way Pfiezer bought programs & presenters on US TV channels during Covid to see that in action (if you allow yourself to see it, that is).

It's not that big a step from doing that to sponsoring/buying political favours from "democratic" politicians and civil servants.

Re: Beeb ‘Liar’ BBC’s chief fact-checker accused of lying
Start with justifying the BBC prejudice eh Comma?

It’s easier said than done for a media organisation to sell presenters and programmes except where beneficial Covid vaccines are concerned. I know that’s unfavourable but Covid was a unique exception

Willtell, you posted up something regarding woke nationalised industries which ones were you referring to.

Simple question.

“Marianna became the BBC's disinformation and social media correspondent in August last year.”

This is the key information in the OP text that allows me to go beyond the initial “so what?” reaction towards a higher-level response.

So I ask myself what evidence there is of her fulfilling this important function in the manner of a brilliant journalist. Also, I notice that I haven’t really been going to the BBC as much of a source on disinformation in general or Kremlin-driven social media activity in this area in particular. Maybe she should have a look at this site for her scoop?

Still can’t get past the “so what” bit as regards the spat with the other woman about the CV though. Freelance journalism just ain’t my gig and as for seeing this in terms of any kind of wokism, well that’s just the OP just making a nitwit out of himself on here as usual.

OK. I'm sure we're all a-waiting on your "higher-level response" with bated breath.

Don't leave it too long though, or the thread will drop off the front page, then nobody will see it.
